Hmm... to me, much of the complaint was tire related. You just can't compare bikes, especially off road, with different tires. You end up mostly just comparing the tires, IMO.
I was REALLY disappointed the author was so hung up on that factor. And then he says completely nonsensical stuff like this... "If you change the tires it would transform the riding experience but I don't think it would totally change it." Wait. what? Which is it? But of course going to full road tires or more off road knobby would really change it!
I'd be curious on a side by side matchup with the KTM on identical tires.
And I'm not convinced the center of gravity is as different from the KTM as he says... especially when you consider that this will be customized by the luggage that most will mount on the bike. And the Husky is higher with more suspension travel and ground clearance... do you want suspension travel and ground clearance or low CoG? You have to pick! As he says the Husky suspension "is super plush...noticeably plusher and more forgiving than the 890".
So essentially, he didn't like the tire choice nor that they were used squared off tires, he didn't like the taller longer travel more plush suspension (because higher CoG) and he didn't like the smaller/taller gas tank (because higher CoG). Maybe he just gained a couple pounds on this junket and that was the CoG problem...
Most of these type bikes will be differentiated by the skill of the rider, the tires and the mods.
That said, no bike is universally loved, so you have to expect some less than enthusiastic reviews.
