Svartpilen 701 - Clutch drag

I just noticed that with my Svartpilen in first gear, it is difficult to move with the clutch pulled in as the engine turns over until I give it a hefty push then it frees up. I have fitted an Oberon slave cylinder and the clutch feels normal. There is always a bit of a clunk when selecting first gear normally, but no problem finding neutral and no clutch slip.

Is this normal? If not I shall try bleeding the clutch hydraulics again. I have 13,000 kms and no other problems:).

Update. I bled the clutch line from the slave cylinder by pressing on the piston but saw no bubbles. The clutch drag was the same afterwards. Then took the bike out today and checked after the oil was nicely warmed up. Clutch drag gone! So I surmise that it a function of cold oil and is not a problem when the oil is up to temperature.

Careful, the clutch should not behave differently cold vs warm engine.
Brake fluid is very resilient to temp changes.

I have no experiance with Oberon, is a rebuild kit even available for those?

Edit: the engine oil temperature does have an impact on the clutch itself; temperature should not impact the function of using the clutch lever.

The Oberon slave cylinder looked pristine when I examined it. It has only done about 3,000 kms so I have no concerns over it. I am using Motul 7100 10-60 MA2 synthetic oil but perhaps it is a little "sticky" when its cold (winter here in New Zealand). Thanks for your advice - I love having a forum where one can seek help!

Hello, did you figured it out? Today I noticed that, with the engine off, and the transmission in first gear, even with the clutch pressed it's difficult to move the motorcycle forward or backward. I also have a OBERON CLU-1000 fitted instead of the original slave cylinder. Is it normal?

Yes. I like Motul products and this meets the requirements. 10w-60 may not be necessary but is available here in New Zealand and is the best oil I could find for the 701.

Multigrade oil changes viscosity with temperature. When cold works like a grade 10, and hoy is grade 60. Brake fluid is grade 0, so much less density, and is not change with temperature. I think you’d use a monograde oil.

Hi everybody.

I’m Cascolo from Mallorca islams, Spain. I bought an Svartpilen 701 MY19 last octubre 28 in Santander city and picked her up no last nov 6.

That day (my 59th birhtday) I Drive 800 kms to Barcelona non stop, but refueling, and the last 75 km under a extremly strong rain.

Bike was not 1000km yet and Start to loose clutch, front brake fluid and petrol over engine. All the tipical problems of this model, just 10 days after release her.

I have to say that bike is brand new, 0 km. Bought in a oficial Husqvarna dealer even she was for 4 years stocked in shop. In this moment the bike is At Husky dealer in Mallorca, and waiting to be respires. Untill I know, al those problems were well known by dealer and components should be changed before bike sold. But dealer did nothing and not considered my safety and the risk of an accident.

Here in Mallorca, when we have a problem like this one, se says “just a bad evening “

Dealer didn't do any of the recalls. Shame. You should receive a discount. Or at least a few free scheduled services. ( Though I'm not sure you should even trust them).
