Is it common to have to constantly be tightening down my chain? Every month or two my chain is loose enough I can pull it from my rear sprocket. Yes I daily drive it, but it still seems odd that I am adjusting as much as I am. Any fixes or is this a common occance that I just have to deal with?

the chain is the cheapest part of these bikes and that is saying something. first thing I did was swap out sprockets and put a real chain on it.

My svartpilen (2022) was 27000 km old, I have changed the (ended) first originals chain and rears too at 23000. Was ordinary on me tightening the chain every 500 km, I drive on north Italy mountain every seasons and weather too. Now I have on my svartpilen an DID chain and I had tightening it after 1500km…

What sprockets and chain would you recommend if you have had better luck? Also I have a 34 mile round trip 5 days a week on twisty turny coastal mountain roads, lots of rain

For the 401 I prefered either the original steel sprockets, or JT sprockets with aluminum rear for lighter weight.
And used either the DID VX3 chain which was good or the RK MXU for lighter weight.

The first major thing i did to my brand new Vitpilen was to loose the OEM chain and replace it with a D.I.D Super Street X-Ring Drive Chain 520 Zvm-X S/S -120 Zb Silver.
Find the best price in your country (by all possible means) and see in any bricks and mortar stores can price match (or get very close)
Most actual stores price match these days.
Since i havn't been able to find good chain adjusters i used my trusty small laser aligner for the chain alignment...works great on the Vit rear sprocket.
