Crash bars for the 801

Hi, I used Puig frame sliders for Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 2024 and its work perfectly, I used also for GoPro holder to take shot for front tire and suspensions.

Also I used heat shield for rear suspension (same part with 790 Duke/790 Adv) and guard for radiator. My rear suspension was oil drained, after change rear suspension from my service in guarantee I take heat shield.

*The exhaust catalytic converter is very close to the rear suspension, heating it up and burning the seals, causing the rear suspension to leak oil.

I just ordered the Evotech crash protection set as well.

Anyone know what the torque specs of these 3 bolts are?
And should I add some medium loctite?

I guess the m10 is 45nm?

Yes, the M10 is 45Nm, the M8 should be 25Nm; with some added Loctite.

From the repair manual:

Just installed the crash protection set (bobbins and axle sliders) from Evotech.

Have to say they make some proper solid stuff at Evotech. From product finish to bolt quality.

I installed the Puig frame sliders today. I'm not sure about them. Look a bit ugly IMO, but it's protection so they will have to stay.

I'm still hoping to find some crash bars from the 790 that fit.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you.. not the most prettiest.

However, at the same time, they don't really stand out all that much so they sort of do blend in..
Yeah, I think the Evotech ones look a bit better and seem really sturdy.

Unfortunately they are 2x the price of the Puig where I live.

I bought the Puig ones also.......Jesus the bolts you need to remove from the frame are super tight.

Just got the Evotech Spindle and Crash Protection delivered from the UK (had to pay an additonal 50 USD in duty fees). You guys have any issues or is there anything I should be looking out for during installation? Just curious before I bust out the tourque wrench.

I hand tightened the axle sliders, torquing them up to spec was too tight, they have to rotate freely with some force applied.

For the crash protection kit, M10 bolt is 45Nm, M8 is 25Nm, with some blue loctite applied.

@stelpy I see no reason why the crash bars couldn't also be fitted to the 801; as the subframe is different, the spacers 3.1 might need a slight adjustment, but the mounting points on the frame are identical.

However, it is quite possible that the 790 crash bars will not provide sufficient protection for the 801's radiator, as the 790's radiator is significantly narrower.
That may be why Zieger not even tested it.

Attached are some more pics.

Thanks for the prompt response) My concern mostly about the connecting middle piece which sits right above the exhaust manifolds and below the radiator. From the pictures I see that 790's radiator is shorter and the middle piece goes right under it. However, I don't see 801 having that same space for it to go through - need to check in the morning.

Do you remember where you found that Instagram image you posted initially?

@stelpy As far as I am aware, the 790-radiator and the 801-radiator are essentially identical. The only additions to the 801's radiator are the mounting points for the coolant reservoir and the covers. Therefore, the space beneath the radiator should also be sufficient; though it would be best to double-check that.
Yes, I came across that photo on Instagram a while ago; but I don’t remember exactly where.

Looks like you might be right: I inspected the 801 against all the available photos and couldn't find any visual difference with 790 mounting points apart from the subframe that you mentioned.

Got another response from iBex and they admitted that they just didn't try -

"We don't know for sure, since we haven't tested the KTM crash bar on the Husqvarna."
