Used Brembo M50s usually are cheaper than rotors, about $200-300. I have a set of like new brembo monoblock calipers and pads I picked up for $150 off a Ducati 1100 scrambler. I got them because I was going to buy the 801 svart, if I pull the trigger on a 801 vitpilen I’ll throw them on it.

If your going to go through the work of changing the rotors though, I would change the calipers to at least some brembo m50s. I feel that would be a bigger upgrade than the larger rotors and cheaper.

I put ktm adventure 1290 320mm disks on my 701 that has the 790 fork lowers. I used two sets of the caliper spacers and bolts for the 2020 vitpilen 701. Still had a little interference mainly when hitting bumps because the rotor was that close to the calipers. I Added a washer to each spacer...

Few better pictures, rides great, just need to turn down the spacer a little.

Almost done, need to take down the large spacer a little to move the wheel over about .100”. That will make sure the calipers have good clearance and the tone ring is closer to the sensor.

Got the wheel back and together, the rim gasket is a huge pain so I had to take it back apart and fix it.

Looking at the stripped down version there really doesn’t seem to be a reason for the new tank cover design, the protrusion doesn’t cover anything. Would be cool if someone made replacement covers in the 701 style or maybe it would be possible to make custom tank covers. Then you could use clip...

Seems like the color correction is off in that video since the silver looks blue. Looks like the yellow may have more silver accents like the exhaust tip.

Saw that video, looks really similar to the prototype aside from the headlight and silver tank. Looks like it has the black radiator covers.

I have a 401 and 701, there really isn’t much that is the same… fit and finish is way better on the 701. The difference in performance is huge since the weight is similar but the power is alot higher on the 701.

imo if they knew they were going to make the Vit and svart so similar they should have made the svart more like the desert sled, that would have been sick. I get looking cool, but the 17” front wheel on my 401 svart is a huge disadvantage hitting jumps and single track….

I like that they have the cut out in the belly pan for the exhaust like the original 701 prototype. Maybe I’ll have to get one and see if I can cut and modify it to the 701.

Looks kind of like the original vitpilen color scheme, don’t really see the neon highlights though.

I really like that they connected the lower exhaust fairings. That was my main styling complaint with the 701 vitpilen compared to the concept, having those two blocky unconnected fairings.

Been slowly working on the dual disc conversion for the spoked wheels so I can have two sets of wheels for my vitpilen. Had to get the 790 adventure hub milled down since the caliper spacing is different on the adventure bike. Had custom spokes made by Buchannon but the length is a little off...
