    Dirt tricks TC-3 tensioner

I had a faulty stock chain tensioner on my vitpilen : everything was okay except during hot restarts where the engine was very noisy the first hundreds meters. I changed it for a new stock one, no problem after that. These engines are loud and as long as the ticking noise at startup goes away I...

    Countershaft leaking and loose nut

I have mounted the repair kit yesterday. It is clearly a known issue as the design has been updated : the nut went from aluminum to steel and the seal is different also. I do not know why they went with this design but there are two seal which can fail : the big radial seal around the...

    Countershaft leaking and loose nut

Yes the washer is there and correctly bent. I agree with you that there must be something with the nut, maybe it was damaged by being loose with the vibration? Luckily there was the washer to avoid the disaster of a flying sprocket, but I do not know how many kilometers it was that way.

    Countershaft leaking and loose nut

Hi everyone, I know there is a lot of things written on this issue but any advice is welcome. I bought the bike with a small leak on the countershaft but the nut was loose so I tought that it was a preload issue. I tightened it to spec (80N.m) but few kilometers after I noticed that it started...

    The Vit 701 suspension thread

My suspension guy has found some compatible springs for the fork. They are Ohlins 08622-80, same diameter as original ones but slightly longer. He removed some shims to compensate, and he put heavier oil. I am quite happy with it, but my rebound is now one click from fully closed due to the...

    The Vit 701 suspension thread

I thought about the progressive spring also, as there is only one reference (43578199) even if there are multiple stiffnesses. For the 27.5 and 37 numbers I have no idea : maybe a call to a WP center could give us this answer?

    Red hot exhausts at idle?

It's a fuel dongle which keeps the lambda sensor active but fools the ECU and make the bike running richer. It is the only simple way to do it for euro5 bikes, and it works also for euro4 bikes (like mine).

    Red hot exhausts at idle?

Done! Not Rottweiler though, I went the euro5 way with that thing : Bought from avdvparts.com, I like the idea to keep the closed loop to look as stock as possible. No more red pipes, and slightly better fueling under 5000rpm : happy camper.

Checked out a vit 701 today

It really depends on you because everybody is different. I always had lower back/knee problem and I am quite tall, so everyone told me to go to dual sport bikes. I have done so and I loved these bikes. But one day I tried a 1290 superduke and I felt very good on it. I bought it and even if my...

    The Vit 701 suspension thread

Concerning the oil it is on the table also, but it won't change my preload setting. For the springs the guy told me that the cups may need to be adapted. But I find it quite strange that we cannot get a direct stiffer replacement from WP...

    Red hot exhausts at idle?

Hi there, Even in the current freezing temps my exhaust goes red in one or two minutes at idle. I know engines run leaner and leaner with each new emission rules but I would like to know that I am not the only one! Thanks!

    The Vit 701 suspension thread

Hi there! I bought 701 Vitpilen with a dead shock at only 11000 km. The price was good and I have not been impressed by the factory shock, very harsh, not adjustable and the rebound was too quick for my taste. So I went with a Fournales shock (pneumatic) because I really wanted to try it and...

    Oil flushing tips?

I have done my first oil flush on the Vit, and I found it quite messy : most of the oil fall on the cat, and I could not clean all of it. As a results smell of burnt oil for the first rides, and even some smoke the first time. For the next time I was thinking of removing the cat which is quite a...

    Introduce yourself here!

Hi there! I just bought a Vitpilen 701 and there is quite a lot of information there :) This bike comes as a replacement of a Kawasaki ZZR1400 (aka ZX14) which was a really good deal but totally soul-less and too quick for my licence. I've done 100000km with KTM (990 adventure then 1290...
