New Bike, now all I need is a Plaid Shirt.

One day they will make motor oil that is color coded to your bike. :)

New Bike, now all I need is a Plaid Shirt.

I used to put Conti Road Attacks on my Kawasaki a few times and they were the best handling rubber I ever had. The first time riding out of the shop and turning onto the street I could feel the difference. Right from the beginning it felt like my brain was glued to the road. The Kawasaki is...

Got to try my frame sliders

I'm glad you're back on the road. That bus looked scary. People regard battle scars differently. Scratches etc can really annoy some riders, while others see them as adding to the story of the bike. If the tyre is tracking straight then a slight 'out of round' in one side of the rim won't...

Evotech Radiator Guard for 2021 Svartpilen 401

For a conversation with Evotech about the cheap knockoffs. It's a long video but it held my interest for the whole way through.

    How do YOU pronounce Husqvarna?

Thankyou. And it turns out that Swedish is easier to understand than Welsh. :)

    Ride Pictures!

Riding in those temps is Superman territory. I once led a few riding mates over a mountain road (here in Australia we don't get high altitudes) and the weather started to go bad. We stopped to put on wet weather gear and as we rode upwards the rain turned to sleet, then hail, then snow. We had...

    Smartphone braket

When there are two accessory power connectors it's typical that one is on all the time and the other one switches on with the ignition. Perhaps acc2 is not only switched but also needs the engine running to power up.

They did manage to drag it off over many days of waiting for high tide etc. At one point they thought it was going to break in half but luckily that didn't happen. The ship was the Pasha Bulker. There is a parking area at the end of the beach and the street through it was then called Pasha Way...

    Ride Pictures!

The dad could drop that kid out towards Tonga and he could ride the wave all the way to Australia. A few years ago a big storm pushed this coal ship up onto one of the city beaches. I think the locals had this in mind and hoped there'd be something mildly spectacular to see.

    Ride Pictures!

I rode around the city beaches. Lots of cars parked there but only a few surfers. Most of the beaches were closed for safety until the afternoon and lots of people had driven in to see if there was anything to see - there wasn't. The surf was very messy and choppy and the roads were packed with...

    Ride Pictures!

OK, update. I just checked the weather. Our whole east coast has a tsunami warning issued early this morning. Apparently an underwater volcano near Tonga has caused major earthquakes and much of the south western Pacific region is under the warning. I suppose we can't blame that one on the rain.

    Ride Pictures!

The temps here in Oz are up but so is the rain. We are in what's known as a La Nina weather patterh. Depending on how the air and water currents move around the Pacific we oscillate between hot dry summers (El Nino) and hot wet summers (La Nina). The east coast especially is very wet and we've...

Got to try my frame sliders

Ouch! I'm glad you are OK, that looks scary. The bike will need very careful checking for frame integrity. I don't know how much of the KTM engineering was carried over into Husky bikes but a few years ago KTM had a bad reputation for frame failures, especially just behind the steering head. It...

    401 Review

It's been something of a group bike the way you've kept us all wondering what the next addition will be. Sorry to hear of the accident and glad you are OK.

Issues with starter solenoid or relay?

Once you got it started on the hill, would it start normally after turning it off? That will point to it being either a dud battery or a connection problem. Jump starting from a car can do damage with just a touch of a clamp on the wrong place as @BISavage says. These days many jumper leads...

Adventure Boots for paved riding anyone?

Boots are made to cover a certain range of riding and each has different characteristics. MX boots are the most solid and the hardest sole. They give high levels of injury protection because of the increased likelihood of a crash, but they lose feel and feedback because of that solidity and are...

    Dzell Frame Cover Plates

Thanks for the info, that's helpful. I thought about these when they first got posted but the cost for us here in Australia is high. Knowing how they fit in guides my thinking on setting up my own panels. I imagine those Dzus half-turn fairing clips would be an improvement.

    Dzell Frame Cover Plates

Do the clips snap off the frame to remove the panels or do you need to unscrew them each time?

    Valve Job

It looks like the exhaust cam has a compression release system. Didn't know that. And I learned that a shim kit can cause cancer and reproductive harm. Who'd have guessed that? :)
