Brand new 2024 Svartpilen 401 DOA

Several of the wiring harness plugs on my bike were only press-tight, not far enough the the retaining clip engaged. I would bet on that. Not a lot of QC going on in India (which is ironic considering how many stickers are left all over the bike).

I do FEA for mechanical drawings occasionally and I really don't like how much torque that puts on the aluminum around those two bolts. I get that the stock mount also only uses two but that seems like a failure waiting to happen. I think I saw you are an ME so I imagine you have done some...

    Joining the 801 club

That is a bananas price. I'm hoping Husky releases some spoked wheels for the 801, that 701 is gorgeous.

    Doing a thing, part 2

The only way it might work is if you open up the main bundle right before it goes forward of the forks and route it up from there. The problem is there is zero room to run it up at that point, it would pinch when you turn the bars to the right.

    Doing a thing, part 2

I pulled the front end off to check on relocating the display over the handlebars. It is a no go unless you are willing to de-pin the plug and extend all the wires 10cm. The KTM's either run longer cables or route the wiring differently. Maybe I'll do it over the winter if I get bored, but...

    Sms 630 2011 help needed

You are posting in the wrong forum, the 801 is a new twin with a new ECU, nothing like what you are riding.

I like your dogs, very cuddly looking. What breed is that? Bike is good too.

The Vit headlight looks like a circle from the head-on view but once you are looking down on it you can see it is quite an oval. Something made for a circle isn't going to fit very well, there would be large gaps on the sides.

    Svartpilen 801 - lower handlebar

My bar mounts are flipped 180 degrees into the 'forward' position. This is where I have the rotation of the bars set:

Hmm, it seems like the part I ordered is only the ring itself, not the ring and metal inner mounting flange. That is annoying...

    Doing a thing, part 2

I'm definitely doing the radiator covers but that will make the bike pretty silly looking while they are off, so that is going to wait until the winter. Key surround should be done this week, last touchups of resin went on this morning. I actually think the chain guard is too much, probably...

KRIEGA Tank - US converter, use with 801

I'm generally a huge fan of SW Motech but I can't figure out their thinking here. It puts the tankbag in your gut and without the bag on the bike it is quite ugly looking. Add to that it is very expensive for a tanklock style ring (I got the Givi ring for $26 USD (vs $65)). All just so you...

Excellent, that backs up my research. The item needed is Givi ZT480F-2R TankLock Bag Ring

Anyone know which Givi tanklock ring we need for these bikes? The '19 ktm 790 duke looks like it uses 8 bolts around the filler cap so that isn't it.

I'm going to switch grips at some point, the stock grip on the left side has a cm of extra width on the inside that makes that reach to the signal much farther than necessary.

    Ergo seat

The shape of the seat is the same, just a different padding? I wouldn't mid switching just for the breathability, but I really love the stock shape.

I thought that was just me and that I somehow shut them off without thinking about it. I will keep an eye out now that someone else has said it.
