Tuning

Hi, my two cents: I used to have Rottweiler's dongle, and while it is way better than stock (stock is unusable, IMO) it makes the bike feel like a donkey on cocaine, if you get the idea. And while that sounds fun, it gets boring pretty soon, especially if you're trying to use the bike in the city.

I switched to Kev's O2 sensor dongle (Search "kevs" in this forum) and I find it way better: it makes the low range usable without affecting rideability. I highly recommend it.

@BISavage I'm running without the lid, yes. I have stock mid-pipe with a Remus NXT slip-on w/DB-killer on (I have it for the sound, I don't think it makes any difference to the low-range)

Cool.
Does the remus make any flat spots on the 701 with that setup, or does it feel solid with the kev mod?

I saw one on a bike at the dealer one time, in black... didnt get to hear it though...😪

Yeah, that "valley" is very apparent on the stock tuning.

Good thing there are so many options.

That 5% from the remus at the high revs is pretty impressive when you figure the kev and the lid max out the mid range.

Has anybody seen a stock vs. akro vs. akro no killer graph?

I would expect it to be a bit different looking than the remus one.

I pulled some graphs from the Pirate racing YouTube channel. Below is a completely stock Vitpilen 701 (including airbox lid), vs the same bike with the Akra Evo racing exhaust (the one for the Duke 690R, generally considered as the best and most expensive option), a completely modified airbox -what they call "Stage 1"- and a programmed PC5 for this setup. This PC5 was absolutely necessary else it wouldn't run well at mid throttle. Without the PC5 the graph was roughly the same, but the bike would not run smooth at lower throttle openings.

Don't look at the raw numbers, look at the gains instead. Very respectable imho, but at a price. Any other option/combination will be between these two lines basically.

Now look at this second graph, this is purely the difference between with or without airbox lid. Rest of the bike stock. Again, look at the gains, not at the absolute numbers.

Bang for the buck?

Thanks for pulling those @Max Kool

If I recall the lid vid had an Akro slip on installed and otherwise completely stock (even the chain!)

For me the bike feels more "delayed" on the throttle at low revs with lid vs. No lid.

By delayed I mean, its kinda like an old vacuum when its first turned on and takes a split second to build up suction...

No lid is kinda a no brainer...

True, before and after with Akra, and if you watched one of the other videos you would have know there is no power difference between the stock slip-on, and the Akra. Which makes totally sense for an homologated accessory.

(and you really are the only person that "feels" the difference between one new chain and the other)

I am wondering if its worth the 200 buck risk for a new end cap to try db killer vs no db killer with the akro pipe on a dyno.

Except at the track, where it matters.
Aside from the fact that the road noise from the tires is louder than the pipe from the rider perspective though... the akro seems to work pretty good with the killer.
When I see those remus graphs with extra ponies ready to be uncorralled, makes me think the akro has more to give in "track mode".
